At the beginning of humanitarian work in Syria, the focus was on all sectors that contribute to preserving people’s lives and supporting them during the crisis. The protection sector was neglected, especially about providing psychological support to those affected like children, women and survivors of gender-based violence. Attention was paid to the protection sector after that, due to the aggravation of the difficult humanitarian situation experienced by the Syrians. Unfortunately, many cases of mild mental disorders have turned into difficult cases that require the intervention of specialists within the mental health sector.
